Beauty in Winter

by Elaine
(Seattle, WA, USA)

We were getting tired of the rain in Seattle. Hawaii was too expensive this time of year. While perusing some travel sites, I came across an exceptional airfare to Las Vegas. I can't say Vegas is my kind of town, but it's a gateway to the Canyons.

That's how our journey started in the dead of winter.

I stumbled onto Stone Canyon's site and the cabins looked so serene. Having never been to Bryce, we took a leap of faith that it'll be just as gorgeous in the winter as it is in the summer. Man, were we nicely surprised.

I actually think it is more scenic in winter because the snow gave the canyon and hoodoos more depth and texture. The only downside is that many restaurants and shops are closed for the season and doesn't reopen until March.

We were prepared though by shopping Walmart on the way in from Vegas and stocked the frig in our cabin. I highly recommend Stone Canyon Inn for several reasons. Cabin 6 which we stayed in was clean, spacious, warmed quickly due to gas fireplace, and multiple heating units, setting was nestled in trees/bushes just outside the park with views, off the main drag away from touristy sites but easy access to/from central area of town.

It has the feel of being in the midst of nature.

We even saw huge rabbits at our front door. The staff is efficient and responsive.

I would definitely return the next time I am in the area.

The only suggestion I have is for a little sink to be added by the microwave area. :)
